Crates Records ALL-DAY Mega JAM!!! FEB 2nd!!!

Crates Records, located in Sunny Slope has officially become Arizona's illest record shop.  2 years of neighborhood heat with vinyl, graffiti art, stickers, cassettes, open turntables, and let's not forget an in-store recording studio and barber shop.  Now it's time to celebrate with an all day party event!

The show start's at 9am with a record swap meet hosted by yours truly! Vinyl heads get ready to dig for that black gold. We're firing up the grill and the Phoenix Funkeros will be on the wheels. If I were you, i'd get there early cause ya'll know i'm a vinyl junkie and I plan on buying all that heat for myself.

Next, we have the All Styles Battle that will start at 6:30 and it's a "no holds barred"competition. No styles are off limits. I'll be in this battle myself and I dare anyone to step to me. I pop-lock while on roller skates and nobody has my style. You have been warned.

  

At 10pm we kick off our 2 year anniversary with performances by Fatlip and Dj Swamp. Siek Von Doom and Fact 135 will be joining me on the wheels and you already know how we get down so get there early because space is super limited. They'll be vendors, food, giveaways and a chance to win a Numark PT01 Scratch portable turntable. Come celebrate with us,     OR ELSE!!!!!!!

Phoenix Record Swap Meet 1-26-19

I'll be slingin some of the coolest concert tour t-shirts at the record show this Saturday. I'm pulling out about 100 rare goodies to make all of your friends jealous. We all know how much t-shirts cost at the actual show right? Why pay $35-$40 when you can but them this Saturday for $10 each! Get there early because they will go fast. This is one of my oldest hip hop memories.  My buddy Daniel had this tape from the swap meet and I remember him showing it to me at his bus stop.  He played it for me and it was so crazy!!!!  I heard it shortly after that on the radio on the Dr. Demento show!  I fell in love!  That was the first place I heard a lot of hip hop back then because it was considered a novelty, and AZ radio was not having it.  Classic beat box and mc'ing!!  Super funny and Entertaining!  DOPE!!!!  Shout out Dr. Demento!!!

2.  Public Enemy “Bring the Noise”

“It Takes A Nation of Million to Hold Us Back” might be my favorite album of all time!  Ask me to quote a song I’m screaming “BASS, HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?  DEATH ROW, WHAT A BROTHER KNOW?”  Noisy production from the Bomb Squad, Chuck D drops the knowledge, Flav keeps it moving, And Terminator X (Johnny Juice)scratching!!!!  Wow!  Amazing hip hop!

BDK=GOAT!  This is my man!  The Smooth Operator!!  I love this cut and album!  The Emotions sample with the slowed down ESG UFO, Fire!  Mr. Cee cutting up Billy Squires “Big Beat” lyrics, bonus.(I have practiced those cuts).  BDK goes off on this amazing slice of 80’s greatness.  This song is pure hip hop braggadocio!!  BDK is Legend!

Rakim is so nice on this track!  So hard and Simply perfection!!  The AWB sample kills with the stupid fresh lyrics!! I am a FIEND!!  I’ve melted many cones of ice cream to this one.  Bless the god mc!!

Champ Styles Sticker Showgun Recap

Another incredible graffiti sticker show hosted by Lulu Bell Toy Bodega brought together both street art and sticker fans alike. The turnout was great and the beats were flowing(I need to start recording my sets for you guys). Thanks goes out to the entire Champ Styles Crew and Lulu's for another banger!
