STEEBEE'S PO BOX The Darrell D. Special

World's famous vlogger Steebee Weebee has a series called Steebee's PO Box where he opens packages that are sent in from his many fans and admirers. Perhaps he received one or two from yours truly.

Fresh G, Rock Dee, Chuck Chillout 1987 Milwaukee

These were the good old days right here! The best mixers come from Milwaukee and this is how we use to party. Lots of Milwaukee Dj royalty on the stage that night in 1987. Man, I miss those days.

D.I.T.(VHS VIDEO)C.-LL Cool J on the Beat Box

Diggin In The VHS Video Crates:

I recorded this in 1988. LL in rare form displays his beat boxing skills. This was LL when he was still raw and arrogant. I miss this LL.

Midi "Kool Is Chillen" 1987

Midi was one of Milwaukee's illest rap groups from the 80's. They were a part of the Fresh Walkin Family.  This was their appearance on MATA channel 14 public access on a show called "Yo, What's Happening" which was hosted by WMSE Dj Too Tuff Tony.

Please Don't Go!

When I was in the 3rd grade I lived in Jackson MS and went to Powell Elementary school. I had a huge crush on a girl in another class. Her name was Kristina Kirkley. She was beautiful. Tall and beautiful.  She mildly liked me too I guess. We were just kids, what could we do?  Anyway, this was the big song on the radio at the time and I would sit in my window in my bedroom at home and listen to it while thinking about her. That was 37 years ago and I still think about her whenever I hear this song. Still makes me sad.

Melo & D

Dominating MC's 1987

More old school Milwaukee rap heat from the video crates of Darrell D.  This was another incredible female group. I recorded this from MATA channel 14 public access in 1987.

Shop Talk-Sonic Boom Milwaukee

Sonic Boom was a very cool little used record shop that opened up in the mid-90's on the lower level of the world's tiniest mall on Milwaukee's east side, the Prospect Mall.  The owner was a younger cat who was a big sports buff and always had a game on. He later moved his store to a larger location on Brady street where he was really able to expand.  Rap music was still pretty new and this was the typical "white owned" shop that didn't really focus on this "newer, weird" music, so you could find rap Lp's for $3-$4 and 12" singles for $1-$2. Me and my buddies would go in there and clean that place out every week. After about a year of this, the owner caught on and increased his prices by almost 400%. He still didn't know what the records were worth (there was no internet or price guides that cataloged rap music back then), so he would literally price everything at $10-$12, no matter what it was, even the crappy artists. Needless to say we didn't buy much after that. He was only around for a few years before selling the shop to some chic who I think renamed it "Cherry Bomb" or something like that. I heard he moved to another state and opened another store. Still got all the records I bought from that shop and this t-shirt.

Def Supreme 1986

This was the look and sound of rap music in Milwaukee back in the mid-80's. Def Supreme was one of many groups who shaped the local scene and paved the way for creative music expression. This footage aired on MATA channel 14 Public Access in 1986.

Darrell's Dj Spotlight f/ Rock Dee,Tony Neal, Dj Eclipse,etc Pt.1

From 1995 to 1998 I had a show on MATA Channel 14 Public Access in Milwaukee Wisconsin. There I spotlighted Dj's from all over the country, but mostly Milwaukee.
This is part 1 of an episode that features Rock Dee, Homer Blow, Meech, Dj Eclipse, Rome, & Tony Neal.
