From the Bronx to Harlem on down to the Lower East Side, the street art in New York is incredible. Here are some highlights from July of 2019.
Backspin: The Search for Milwaukee's First Hip-Hop Song
Looks like there's a debate about Milwaukee rap. I'm game. Tyrone Miller and Justin Barney from 88nine FM in Milwaukee are trying to get to the bottom of one of Brewtown's greatest mysteries. They put in a lot of work on this one and went to great lengths to uncover what everyone wants to know. Many from Milwaukee's old school, including yours truly, were interviewed and questioned about the first rap song from our fair city. The podcast is "Backspin" and you can stream all 6 episodes here or subscribe to "Backspin" on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, NPR Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
2019 Crotona Park Jams
It's about that time again. The legends of Dj'ing will be coming together to rock old school park jam style in the home of hip-hop, the boogie down BRONX! I've been attending this jam for the last 13 years and the line-up this year is as strong as ever. If you are in Nyc during these dates, I strongly suggest you check out these legendary parties.
V.I.P. Records Celebrates 25 Years Of Doggystyle
Whenever I hit Cali, V.I.P. Records is usually my first stop so I was happy to hear that on my latest visit owner Kelvin Anderson was celebrating the 25th anniversary of the "Doggystyle" Lp. This Long Beach historical landmark is still going strong, and don't be surprised if you run into some of rap's super stars while you dig.

Thank You Bushwick Bill
You left us too soon Bill. Thank you for all of the great music. I was just listening to "Ever So Clear" the other day, that was my jam. As I mentioned in my post about Dj Ready Red, I never got to see you guys perform live, my loss. You represented Brooklyn as hard as you did the 5th Ward. Classic. Thank you Bushwick Bill!
